On Ernst January 22, 1904, Deutsche Bank based in Barcelona German Transatlantic Bank, initially created to expand in South America. Branches opened in Madrid in 1907 and Seville in 1928.
After World War II, all German properties were frozen in Spain and the Spanish government confiscated and sold the properties. In 1950 a new company took over the assets of the German Transatlantic Bank and the activity started again with the name of the Transatlantic Business Bank, Bancotrans name with which he asset Management operated until 1994.
Deutsche Bank re-entered the capital of Bancotrans gradually since 1953, through a subsidiary. In 1957 had 10 of the capital in 1971, 25 and in Ernst 1988, 39 . In 1989, Deutsche Bank was done with the participation of its subsidiary in H. M. Bancotrans and soon after acquired the majority of the capital of the Transatlantic Business Bank.
In 1993, Bancotrans purchase Banco Banesto in Madrid and its extensive sales network.
On 1 January 1994 is now called Bancotrans Deutsche Bank, Sociedad Anonima Spanish. The current president of the Deutsche Bank in Spain is Antonio Rodriguez Pina.
